Anybody know DJK Westfalia 04 Gelsenkirchen?

I happened to find an interesting club. Its name is DJK Westfalia 04 Gelsenkirchen.Mesut Ozil used to play for them.I went to their website and found they are in Kreisliga.What's that?What kind of liga?I am curious about it.:rolleyes: DJK Westfalia 04 Gelsenkirchen sounds like Schalke 04...:drinkbeer

It's a different club and they are playing in the Kreisliga A, which is almost the lowest level of the German league system.

Kreisliga is the 8th division of the german ligasystem, probably completly separate from Schalke, maybe even founded in 2004 and not 1904, but i don't know, you'd have to ask someone from the Westfallen gelsinkirchen area

It´s a different club but like the other minor clubs in Gelsenkirchen they operate under the Schalke 04 "umbrella"...i.e They are independent clubs but they all look at Schalke for guidance, access to good facilities, training courses and stuff like that.

In all honesty they (the minor GE clubs) sometimes act more or less like fanclubs. I guess it´s like this in several places..They often use our colours as well.

But it´s true that the first name for Schalke was WESTFALIA SCHALKE 1904.
