The injury didn't look to bad from what I saw. I hurt, but I don't think he broke his nose or anything. How can a ball hitting you in the face keep you out for a month? I doubt that will happen.

Quaresma operado ao maxilar

Quaresma foi submetido este sábado a uma intervenção cirúrgica ao maxilar inferior, em consequência da fractura que sofreu ontem, no decorrer do FC Porto-U. Leiria.

A operação decorreu de acordo com o previsto por Carlos Monteiro, cirurgião maxilo-facial, e teve lugar numa unidade hospitalar do Porto. Quaresma deverá ter alta clínica durante os próximos dias.


Quaresma had surgery to his jaw earlier today, in a few days he will be let go from the hospital. Wow, the injury must have been pretty serious.


So looks like he'll only miss a couple weeks instead of a month.

LISBON, Aug 27 (Reuters) - Porto winger Ricardo Quaresma could be out of action for two weeks after having jaw surgery on Saturday, the Portuguese champions said on Sunday.

'The surgery went well and the player will be discharged from the hospital shortly,' said doctor Carlos Monteiro on club's web site on Sunday.

The 22-year-old will miss Portugal's friendly international with Denmark on Sept. 1 and first Euro 2008 qualifier against Finland five days later.

Quaresma was injured during the opening round of the Portuguese Premier League last Friday. He opened the scoring in 2-1 Porto's home win over Uniao Leiria.
