So, interesting gameday and it starts with a great game. :nod Werder never got lots of points when they played against Schalke in Gelsenkirchen. Both teams want to achieve big things this season, i m curious if Diego can keep up his fantastic form. I'm hoping for an offensive game with lots of goals. ;)
hehe Stuttgart do always looks good against Dortmund at home...the 3 points are ours! :drinkbeer :D
Hope Nürnberg will steal away some points from Bayern, they have confidence and should take advantage of the current state Bayern is in (Barcelona defeat, 4:0...the Hargreaves rumours)
Bring it on!

1-0 Kuranyi scored...though i don't think it was a regular goal. He pulled the Werder defender down and to me it didn't look like a normal "Zweikampf"!

the lead is deserved though. Schalke is the better team so far. Bremen looks a bit confused :s

Yeah, if Bremen is going to send that many men forward to attack, they need to create way more chances than that. Kuranyi's goal looked clean to me.

2-0 now. Bremen's defense looks like sh!t.
1. Way too many turnovers in the midfield.
2. Pasanen sucks.
Borowski has looked horrible today, and the only guy really doing anything in the midfield was Diego.

It was not Werder's day but then again they never win something when they play in Gelsenkirchen so this is not really news. Schalke was better in every part of the game today and they also looked more fit and pacey to me. Now you see the national team player are falling into an hole. At least they (Frings, Miro, Borowski) tried to win balls but you saw they are not fit yet. Can't wait for Merte to play. Werder need him in the defence.

Schalke usually do well early in the season against a big team at home-then everybody think Schalke might challenge for the BL-going good winning 6/7 games in a row-then they flop by say losing to Frankfurt away and lose 4/5 games in a row-same old Schalke..illusions of grandeur like Newcastle in England

LOL..Three years ago we where in the relegation zone after five games, we finished as vize-meister so it´s not a compulsory..:cool
Werder never wins in GE by the way.
PS..Funny that you mention Newcastle, you know that Gelsenkirchen and Newcastle are "twinned"..:laugh

:( damnit if you don't have luck, bad luck is on your side!
Halftime atm Stuttgart 1 - 2 Dortmund
We gave a nice present to Dortmund with that own goal Magnin scored and it's just typical that when we score the 1-1 the opponent scores right after that the 1-2  I'm so sick of this **** why can't we dominate at home?! Is it because of the stadium?! I have no clue.
Give you a tip...play only over our left side and you've won!
Tasci eases the pain for me. Happy that he scored, after all its his first BL game from beginning. :clap
All in all its a good match...lets see what the 2nd half brings.

thanks schwal :(
I seriously have no clue on how they will react to this. I don't know the character of this team They fight and all but it looks like they cannot play better. That's the only explaination i have. Well and luck is not often on our side.
The next game is an away game in Bremen i expect us to get some points there. Knowing that Bremen lost yesterday, they don't wanna lose again. It's going to be really really hard. I'm a bit disappointed that we start the season like we ended the last one. We can't seem to win at home...it's a real mess. :( Now ask yourself how the fans must be feeling. They come to the stadium and the team is losing every home game. unbelievable.

First, I´d like to recommend the Vfb to stick with Veh..changing coaches all the time doesn´t help really and will only mean that the club will find it hard to attract merited coaches...Look at Schalke for example ;)
Second, the big problem with Vfb fans is not that the team is losing games, the problem is that your board doesn´t level with the fans..I might be wrong here as I don´t really study Vfb but I have this feeling that Vfb as a club don´t really want to hear what the fans have to say and thus alienate them.
Thirdly, There is a Vfb coaching/playing style that is represented by Klinsi and Löw. Am I the only one that think that said style was represented by the famous Vfb that really got the fans going? And why does Vfb as a club reject said style when it might suit them well..? Lack of coaches?
And last...Convince your board to take a risk. Build a new stadium without the tracks. A compact one that will intimidate the away team...Costs? Say 150-200m Euros. Rewards = Better earnings and fan approval.
I might be totally lost in space Timo..but what do YOU think should be done to restore the club to it´s former glory?

There is a nice sentence president Staudt said one day when we're on top of the leauge in 2003: "Better spot 9 in the end, than having debts"!!!
That says it all really. Our board is the one to blame. When i look at what they've done to the club in the last 4 years i start crying. We had such a great team back in 2003, played CL and had a bright future. They destroyed everything you could destroy. They made wrong decisions with the coaches and wrong decisions by letting important player (hleb, bordon) leave the club.
After the successful year we gave those players away, instead of buying new player to strenghten the team!!! They did exactly the wrong thing and all this because we don't go any risks. I guess its part of the Swabian philosophy and mentality. :( I think this will never change thb.
The club will never listen to the fans, because they think they're doing the right thing! Why do you think some fans boo in the stadium or don't even go to the stadium beside the fact that VfB cannot win at home?! The club ignores us, they say we're important but they would never listen to us.
They promise us a great season because they think the player they bought will bring us back on top! The self-criticism is missing here.
Over the years we've bought so many flops i can't even count them! No smart buying i don't wanna know how much money we've thrown out of the window on these player. They bought without useing the head. (Gronkjear, Carevic, Elson...and many more)
Another indicator on how **** our board is. There lies the misery and IMO they are to blame for the current situation. When i look at the Bremen management i can only cry! They knew how to stay on top and knew what to do in terms of transfers. Werder always lost good and important player but they always seem to find good and cheap replacements.
Yes i think the klinsi/löw style suits us. :nod sadly our coaches do not see this.
About the stadium...the board is planning on having one sooner or later. But the nice city delayed it by getting the athletic WC in 2007! This means we have to wait at least till 2008 till something happens in terms of stadium.
Oh well the season is still young but for us it starts like the last season ended. We played good today, had many chances and were pretty unlucky. I guess we fans can just hope for better days, because the player do not look bad. Uefa-cup is realistic IMO and hopefully we'll find our rhythem soon. :(

I think that when Da Silva will be in good form it will run better for Stuttgart. He is a playmaker I rate to be able to bring Stuttgart constant creativity. Hilbert and Bierofka should be profiting from him. I can not judge Farnerud, but he at least needs more time to get used to the BL.
It will be also vital to get a constant goalscorer. Tomasson lives of his name, Cacau, Gomez and Streller are average players up until now for Stuttgart; but the main reason for a good VFB season is Da Silva to play well. I think Ailton wouldnt have been that bad for Stuttgart, if Ailton would have been in decent shape. Ljuboja and Ailton could have been quite a good combo. That is just a thought since we know the Ljuboja situation.
I hope that Stuttgart gets a good stirker and not another one of the line of Carecevic or Streller who fail to impress and hang around 2-3 years. Talking about the management. I think Heldt is not a good sport manager... do I have reasons? no, just a gut feeling. Besides in other clubs Ex-players are given a couple of years to learn and to get used to the position... Müller at Schalke and Preetz in Berlin for example... I dont see Heldt being a childprodigy to do it great immediately.

Is Heldt holding any power? Or is he just a strangely smiling window dressing?

The board deserve criticism for sure-when Magath left (and he was always going to leave to go to Bayern)-he said something about the board not helping him anyway. He did not have to say this at all-but he give small information that the board had no ambition or did not have the finances to bring us to the next level.
Yet maybe we see a bigger club like Dortmund try and become the number 1 and then have big debts and an average team..you can understand the board not giving money.
Yet where would this money come from ?
Stuttgart is not a crazy football city not like the Ruhr.
Football for many is like going to the opera or the museum.
So this and not wanting to spend money are typical Swabian characteristics.
You cannot blame this 100%.
The club went with Sammer-but the players for me deserve blame here in not giving Sammer 100% and for talking behind his back.
So VFb went with Trapp and a more mature kind of football-leaving 'the wild youth' philosophy. I think Trapp was beginning to get things right when he was fired. It takes time to bring in a new philosophy.
He was fired after a 0-0 at home with Bremen when VFb were #6 !!
To me we should not have sold Tiffert and Hinkel as these guys had VFB hearts.Under Veh there seems no plan and he does not inspire me at all.
The team is made up of all new players-all thrown together.
Still the players who have left (Kuranyi, Tiffert, Hinkel) have not played better so maybe the Magath golden era was a lucky time when everything came together and would not last anyway.
I want Veh out-I did not want him as coach in the first place and he inspires nothing.
The stadion is good-it certainly rocked when Germany-Portugal and when VFB played Celtic and Man U and it will rock when Irland come next month.
The crowd were quiet yesterday because we have no inspiration and have fear.
It is a big come down from the WM.
