Rangers boss Paul Le Guen has not given up hope of signing Jeremy Clement from Lyon as he seeks to add more faces to his new-look Ibrox squad.

The Frenchman has already recruited former Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Lionel Letizi and youngsters William Stanger, Antoine Ponroy and Dean Furman.

Other new signings, Czech Republic's Libor Sionko and Sweden's Karl Svensson, are still at the World Cup.

And although mindful of the financial restrictions placed upon him by chairman David Murray, the new Ibrox boss admits he wants to add to his squad further by returning to his former club Lyon for 21-year-old midfielder Clement.

He said: "It will be difficult because he is too expensive for us but we will see. He is a good player and I know him very well.

"I spoke with him and he wants to come but Lyon don't want to lose him.

"But with the World Cup on we have time to discuss things.

"We began well by finding Letizi, Sionko and Svensson and we will try to do the same thing over the following weeks.

"But we don't have a lot of money - so we will try to be crafty

So much for these millions were supposed to be getting to spend
I think Le Guen qoutes have been taken from his interview in that article if i remember rightly and there few things Murray said directed to the money situation it just shows you after all this talk about getting millions to spend on transfers it may not be true after all if Clement as Le Guen says "he is to expensive for us " which he prob valued at 1 to 2 million max disappoints me greatly what chance do we have signing non BOSMAN quality player. When Le Guen said "But we don't have a lot of money - so we will try to be crafty" that basically says it all to me.

PLG doesn't rate Clement at the price Lyon want and he's said before prices will change the nearer to the deadline.

The we can't afford him right now isn't true as after that David Murray said we would spend a few million on new players.

I wouldn't expect Rangers to show their hand on how much they have to spend. There is no point paying over the odds prices for players.

I wouldn't be worried about the cash situation. There is money there for a good team, we didn't sell off our merchandise chain just nothing and PLG wouldn't come here if he didn't have enough to work with.

I see you've found the Sky Sports web site Speedy :)

Lyon midfielder Jeremy Clement is reported to have decided to join Rangers.

Rangers have been trailing the 22-year-old all summer with Paul Le Guen keen to bring him to Ibrox.

The Scottish giants have been in talks with Lyon for the last few weeks as they try to thrash out a deal, but they have so far been unable to reach an accord.

Paris Saint Germain and St Etienne are both believed to be interested in Clement after Lyon revealed they are willing to let the player leave Stade Gerland.

Clement has been weighing his options up and reports emanating from France suggest he has decided to move to Scotland.

The news will be a boost for Le Guen as he has made Clement one of his top targets since taking charge at Ibrox.

Rangers are now expected to speed up their talks with Lyon next week as they look to secure Clement's signature.
