Hamburger SV's Japanese international striker Naohiro Takahara is set to be the toast of Hamburg after giving the club's supporters 400 litres of beer. Takahara, nicknamed 'the Sushi Bomber' by Hamburg supporters, was awarded 500 litres of beer by club sponsors Holsten for scoring the goal at the Olympiastadion which earned his side a 1-1 draw against FC Bayern München last weekend and finally ended Oliver Kahn's lengthy run of clean sheets in the 1. Bundesliga. Staying true to the spirit of Japanese hospitality which was so popular during last season's FIFA World Cup finals, Takahara has put 100 litres of his beery bounty aside for a party with the rest of his team-mates but sent the other 400 litres off to various Hamburg supporters' clubs for them to dispose of as they see fit following Saturday's north German derby game against VfL Wolfsburg. "This is a small thank you to the fans for the way they have made it easy for me and supported me since I made my debut at the AOL Arena against [SV] Werder Bremen.” Hamburg board member Christian Reichert added: “It is a great gesture. The supporters will really appreciate it.”
