View Full Version : Public opinion: West Ham is crap

I value West Ham and like the way they play football. I was at Upton Park in March and would go again if the possibility arises. Great fans, great team, good atmosphere. Got great youth system and sensible transfer policy.
Then we have these fans saying "Arsenal only got 4th because of food poisoning of Tottenham players". In my opinion it also says "West Ham in normal conditions cannot win Tottenham at Upton Park", which is a lame excuse IMO. Why dont people give credit to West Ham and say: "you won tottenham fair and square, you were the better team".
Going to the last day of Premier Tottenham knew they had to win West Ham, away. Even with a draw they would be 5th if Arsenal wins Wigan in their last home match at Highbury (100% certainty). Tottenham is the away team, can we start from the assumption they can win West Ham?
I would not.
Even with 100% squad, no injuries or nothing. Tottenham would have a full days work to get even 1 point (draw) from West Ham. Thus I give 100% recognition to West Ham and Arsenal, two London teams who won their home games yesterday. No excuses.
i think West Ham are a top team, play good fotball and have a good group of young players.
if they can hold onto Reo-Coker, ferdinand, Harewood etc they will continue to feature on the top half. they dominated tottenham, no question, i doubt a not effected tottenham wouldve gotten three points from the match.
They were outplayed and outclassed simple as that

Like they dicked us 1-1 at White Hart Lane when we had an understrength squad.
Also, I would have thought 90 minute match was considered a normal situation......

West Ham have got a good side. Even a full strength Spurs would have struggled to get more than a draw

The thing is, noone on the spurs forum said that they were ****, we just said that us being ill was a factor that effected the result which I thought was fair enough...

there was some fans who said that Arsenal got the 4th spot only because Spurs choice of food.. that is implying Tottenham wouldve won Hammers without the food fight. Not even a draw - but won.

But we know that Tottenham did not win West Ham this season.

Jere Markus thank you for bringing this up. :bowing With all the news about spurs not having a fully fit team yesterday it has been easy for people to forget there was another team out there on the pitch. Spurs may not have been playing a full strengh team due to illness but people have to remember we weren't playing a full strengh team either. We have a few injury worries and were also resting a few players ahead of the final on saturday so both teams weren't as strong as they could have been. West ham v spurs was always going to be a hard fought game and the atmosphere was electric yesterday which I think gave us the slight edge over spurs. Of course I was extremely happy (to say the least!!) that we beat spurs yesterday and judging by the mood around the ground after the game so was every other hammers fan. And cheer up all you spurs fans, you're still in europe anyway and this way there's a chance you might bump into us in one of the rounds. :devil

even wenger said BEFORE the match "Pardew is a professional and will try to win the match"
Pardew is a professional and he has a good team.

Well, he rested his players for the cup in the previous rounds, which I don't think is very professsional to be quite honest. Probably the reason we annihilated them at the ****bok.

reebok is not an easy place to get a win.. thus no surprise if WH loses there

bolton lost only 3 times at home this season.. conceding 13 goals in 18 matches with one of the best goalies in Premier, Jaaskelainen. sounds like a good record.

Yes, i'm not denying we'd probably beat them anyway, as we did 3 times this season, but the fact they rested players for the cup was the reason behind us annihilating them.

Jesus, do you regularily hold your breath for over ten minutes? whats wrong with you Regardless whatever teams invovled I'd say that sickness had something to do with the result, Yes west ham out played us, yes they deserved to win but thats not the point, I'm saying that if the team wasn't ill they'd have had a better chance at winning not if we where fit we would have won the game.

It's very, VERY hard to get some simple points through to him. Learn to live with it mate.

I'm not gonna deny that Tottenham would have maybe put in an even better performance than they did had their players been fully fit. But then again we weren't at full strength either. Tottenham have better players than us in most positions, theyve had a great season, so of course I'm not gonna deny that their players' fitness situation was an issue.
But you can only beat whats in front of you.

Illness did play a factor in the game but to make the judgement that people have said west ham are crap because of the illness effecting Tottenham is rediculous.
There position in the league shows that they have had a good year, they have some good players and with Pardew i can only see them getting better.
