Right this is what its all about this weekend. The first of the classics of the season, many dreams will be shattered, 2 will come true.
Anyway here are my tips:
Newmarket:
2.05 THUNDER ROCK(NAP) - beautifully bred son of King's Best, won his maiden well and not disgraced next time in handicap. Yard does well with this type and in this race. Will take all the beating.
3.15 Sir Percy (next best) - Probably the best guineas for years with all of last year's top 2 year olds running. The best of them however was Sir Percy, who is unbeaten and winner of the 2 year old championship race, the Dewhurst. He has wintered well and was subject to some glowing reports this week, from a yard who don't blow their own trumpet too much. Asset and Killybegs could well make the frame.
4.20 Purple Moon - Another well bred Stoute horse. He looked very good when winning his debut run 2 weeks ago. This trip will suit him better still and is likely to be a horse to follow this season.
4.50 Hattan - Well regarded by his trainer, has some very good form from last year, including winning the Chester Vase and a Derby 6th place. Yard in form and a value price.
5.25 Acheekyone - Ran a good race last time at Newbury, and thought of as more thsan just a handicapper. He's wokred well since and improvement is expected, though this is tougher.
Haydock:
2.25 Major's Cast - His form last season after a great time in Dubai is outstanding for this grade, never disgracing himself against the best milers in the world. This is easy by comparison and has really been lighting up the Newmarket gallops.
Thirsk:
4.15 Malcheek - A great seasonal debut run here last week to Dabbers Ridge. They finished miles in front of 3rd. Has run well over course and distance before and his 3lb rise shouldn't stop him.
Goodwood:
2.20 Deveron - Had some good form for Clive Brittain last season. Ran ok on Godolphin debut in Dubai. If she's over the flight, will take all the beating.
2.50 Championship Point - Made big impression when winning the Chesham at York last season, and no disgrace with Deaville 2nd on desperate ground. Faster surface suits and will have too much for these if fully wound up and yard form suggests he will.
