MOSCOW, April 14 (Reuters) - Spartak Moscow midfielder Dmitry Alenichev has been transfer-listed for publicly criticising the team manager, the Russian side said on Friday.
"Alenichev put personal grievances and ambitions above the interests of the team," Spartak said in a statement.
"The club's management has decided to withdraw him from the main squad. He has been put up for transfer and moved to the reserve team."
Spartak added that under the terms of his contract, Russian international Alenichev would incur significant financial penalties.
In an interview in Russia's Sport-Express newspaper last week, Alenichev said that Spartak manager Alexander Starkov "messes with people's brains" and was failing to take responsibility for his actions.
His criticism followed draws for Spartak in the first three matches of the Russian league season.
Alenichev, 33, came to Spartak in 2004 after a successful spell with Portugal's Porto, where he was part of a team that won the UEFA Cup and Champions League. He scored goals in the finals of both competitions.
He had an earlier spell with Spartak, between 1994 and 1998. Alenichev was named Russian player of the year in 1997.
Starkov joined Spartak in 2004. Last season he helped the club to second place in the Russian league, behind city rivals CSKA. He said Alenichev's comments were a "knife in the back."
Spartak have won both the games they have played since Alenichev's newspaper interview was published.
Looks like he not getting along with Spartak Moscow. Would guys like to have him back with Porto?
