I hope that we have a good game, and many more fans might start to come to this game now we are managerless.
Prediction
With the departure of Gary Megson I am hoping to see a much vitalised Forest team with lots of spirit who play tomorow. The only downside is we will see "Rooney" pedersen in goal and I don't think he is good enough really. I expect us to try and win the game to show we can win, but I think we will still be looking for an away win at the next away game.
Port Vale 1 - 0 Nottingham Forest

I think a draw is probly the best we'll get! Barlow is Megson's double so nothing will change if he stays incharge for long...

3 - 2 Port Vale.
I don't think the team will look too much different with Barlow in charge. We will leak goals every game with Rooney in goal.
Need to sort out a proper manager ASAP in my opinion.

I put it down to "Gary Megson Exit" Syndrome..
I fully agree though Sharp, he would be a Megson double maybe with McParland in will help to deliever different tactics and Barlow doesn't want the job on a full time basis so this will be one man who wont be on the managerial agenda in the summer.
I think we'll win because that's what always happens when a manager leaves. 2-1 Tyson and Lester with the goals. The we will concede will no doubt be down to a Pedersen error.

Well, saying that one man (FB) is someone else's double (GM's) because he (GM) brought another man (FB) to a business? So you're saying employers only employ people who are 'doubles' of themselves, do they?
They are two different people, with two different sets of opinions and views - just because they've worked together doesn't mean they think exactly the same
In my opinion, you have to be clueless to think that they are "the same" for that given reason.
I put it down to "Gary Megson Exit" Syndrome..
Me too :nod ... Despite me saying I wanted him gone after the Oldham game :nod
-------
On to more important matters, Forest.
We're without Gerrard, which is a bit of a blow, but we'll have to cope. Let's hope Frank and McParland are able to get the right mix of players and getting us playing in a more effective manner. I've not been to the reserves this season so I don't know how McParland gets his players to play football? We really could do with a minimum of a draw tomorrow, but none of us can realistic know what to expect, in terms of formation, performance and selected players.
2-2 draw.

rosicky i have only been to one reserve game and that was the 8-0 win over walsall at burton's pirrelli stadium.the team played fast flowing attacking football, with very little long ball play. there were lots of short triangle passes like cloughie's teams played. he used the wings well.alot of play started at the back.i thought while watching i wish this was a 1st team game, even though it was a poor display by walsall, they were fighting for something for the full 90mins,one of my man of the match candidates was KEVIN JAMES most of the build up came through him.it was a shame he never made it with the 1st team,he showed something most of the 1st team haven't all season.think charlie could do the team good,if barlow allows him to play the game his way.

Losing Megson is part of the answer...
In my view though losing Megson now and just 'replacing' him with Frank Barlow who has been in the dressing room all year and has been Megsons right hand man solves nothing.
The players know Barlow wont be here full time and I imagine the atmosphere and training is fairly similar.
Getting rid of Megson needed us to replace him ASAP (within reason) instead of waiting til the end of the season.

Haha I read that before the goal went in cause the online feed is (i think 20 seconds) delayed.
No we don't want to rush into things that is true, But also I dont see how its gonna make MUCH difference, Megson being here or Barlow being in charge.
The players KNOW that Barlow wont be in charge next season so that even takes away the incentive of playing to impress the new manager to secure your future.

meh rob im having no problems with radio nottingham on 1584 at all.
Not the easiest game for "charlie" and Frank to take over mangement. The performance doesn't sound much of an improvement on what we've usually had. We've not dominated play, it doesn't sound as though we've had more/better chances either. Nice to go in at half time in the lead. Sounded like a cracker from Commons.. and to say I tutted when I heard he was put into the starting eleven :o :ninja
A lot of room for improvement performance wise, but if we manage to get the three points I'm sure there won't be too many complaints from anyone... There may be a Megson out thread though.

So what was the difference today then? The fact that we didn't piss about with tactics once we started winning? Or that there was no shouting crap at the players.

lets hope we build on this and play football, but get the team working together more, never thought playoffs were out of reach.however when they started playing goes to show they had no interest in playing for megson. this is poor professionalism by the players. hope we now but a run together, and gain as many points as possible. well done lads keep it up.

Cant believe we didnt score! That was the difference today, we had a lot more possession and chances but you took your chances, we didnt! Suppose it comes down to money!
Good luck for the rest of the season.

The lads played very well today and deserved to win. There was a huge period of pressure from Port Vale for the first 35 minutes but we managed to hold out and score a fantastically taken free-kick from Kris Commons.
2nd half was similar to the first except it was all end to end stuff and perch came close a few times so did Grant Holt.
Port vale had a few chances and I think they hit the post and it came out? Couldnt see from where i was sat as it was at the other end.
Once again hugh support from Forest, a much better performance and a throughly deserved win.
Julian Bennet had a fantastic game with his sliding tackles.
Tyson/Bennet/Morgan infact everyone can take full praise from today.
Even Rune Pedersen, he did a very good job in goal.
10/10
Top support as well from Forest, great atmosphere from the away visitors as always.

I know it's not as accurately but from listening on the radio I can say Bennett sounded phenomenal today. Rune Pedersen, however, did not. Dropped a few shots and generally sounded poor, but again it's much easier to judge when you see it rather than hear about it :nod

Yeah Bennett was on to every ball, winning headers, sliding tackles 100% accurate. MOTD or Sammy Clingan, he was everywhere as always.
Rune Pedersen only made odd errors, of bowling the ball out too quickly or poor goal kicks but his savings techinques were generally an improvement.

Massive improvement on what we have been seeing of recent months then. It did sound like we were more comfortable in passing the ball, there was no fear of a man on the touchline shouting at them if it went wrong. There is still massive room for improvement, but at least we have postives to reflect on and to build on.
At one point I even believe that I heard "Forest are passing the ball around neatly on the floor inside their own box" :o. Three changes to the starting eleven (one of them scoring) and no constant changes to the tactics/formation, I must say Frank Barlow/Ian McParland have made a great start, and frankly are embarrassing Megson should this continue.
I'm now actually really looking forward to a Forest game for the first time in ages. We can expect to correct the home form and build on confidence and begin a potential run up the table. But with 12 games left and being 11 off of the play-offs it's unlikely we'll be in with a shout of achieving that, but stanger things have happened.

Pedersen - 7 - An improvement from other times he has played. He had a few howlers but he did improve on some saves, other times he kicked the ball straight out of play. He did what was vital and kept a clean sheet.
Bennett - 8 - Yes, one of the main characters and main strong points of the Nottingham Forest team today. Bennett slid into every tackle and made a good few passes and hoof's. He did keep the defenders out but he was a great influence today.
Breckin - 7 - Didn't really see much of Breckin on the ball today, he was winning aerial balls but he did seem like he had a quiet afternoon, when Vale attacked at the other end he did make the vital interceptions to keep Nottingham Forest in the game.
Morgan - 8 - Wes Morgan was incredible today, defensive wise and attackive wise. He was there to defend on every occasion and even aerial balls was dealt with by "There's only one Wes Morgan". Wes Morgan I think early on headed from a corner and the keeper saved it.
Curtis - 7 - Curtis did make some really poor passes and on other occasions he did put in some quality crosses and mainly hold onto the ball on a few occasions.
Perch - 6.5 - I think he did have a rather average game, he was there to win the more important balls and put some good passes onto Commons. Was a bit foolish getting Yellow carded but it was late.
Clingan - 8 - Clingan, well according to the radio and on here he must have played some bad balls and I think he might have done on a few occasions however he was always there running for the ball and running at defenders and winning the ball back. Sammy Clingan can win the ball and hold it and create chances for others. This man is the difference between other teams and NFFC.
Southall - 6.5 - He did create chances but he didn't look into the game to me. He couldn't hold onto the ball and he lost the ball on numerous occasions. He did send some crosses in but they came to nothing and he won a couple of throwings. Nothing spectular though from Mr Southall.
Commons - 9 - Even though he does seem over-weight he did have a good game. He wasn't able to run after the ball and he did lose the ball on a few occasions but the fantastically taken free-kick was well executed (hard to see though from the other end of the goal) he did create chances and opened the ball up for Tyson. He did come off in the end, but he did have a really good game. Well done to Commons.
Tyson - 10 - Nathan Tyson is simply so good he is the player that is completely 100% commited and he never stops running. He was always there to try and latch onto any through balls. He did have a shot or two and really did well and at the end he was through 1 on 1 with the keeper and I thought he dragged the shot wide but he did do well to score. Well played and a great game yet again from Tyson. :)
GR. Holt - 7 - Grant Holt didn't really do much in today's game. He did get a good shot at the goal but blasted it over. He did flick some headers on to Tyson but they generally went straight to Port Vale players.
Subs:
Bastians - 5 - Not enough time
Thompson - 5 - Not enough time
Lester - 7 - Provided the vital touch to put Tyson through onto our 2nd goal.
