I am as gutted as everyone else but change will not I believe move us forward. We will be in the same situation this time next year with another promising Manager and will not have eradicated the comfort zone culture in the dressing room. This will take time but Gary has my full financial support.

Nothing has changed from the statements I made at the Supporters AGM and our Internet Forum. This is a long job and if we have the wrong man then that is costly for me and painful for all us as Forest fans.At that stage I will hold up my hands and say we got it wrong but we need to give Gary a couple of years to finish the job he started last year.

Whilst I know this is unacceptable to lot of our fans I will articulate in some more detail next week with local media.

Please post this if you think it will be helpful.Although I appreciate it will not make me popular but we are trying to do what we believe is in the best long term interests of our club.

Nigel

Got this off Forest forums. The guy who posted it says it was from TF? If anyone knows what that means?

Well if this is the case, then Megson Out will need to be chanted at the games, because I dont want to see Megson in charge any longer. Its simply unacceptable and not good enough.

I tihnk that letter is bull cos if it was written by ND, he would not abbriviate Gary Megson to 'GM' if it was a formal letter which it is supposed to be.

Yes that what i was thinking, but then again maybe this person has re write what Doughty said instead of copying and pasting.
Suppose we ll see next week when hes apparently gonna speak to the local media.

It says "I will do something when I am back next week."

Back from where?

If it says he will do something but not make any changes, then thats not doing something is it? *Confused*

We will get the right man eventually,Doughty has not got the right man in Megson and he will have to change it again until he does get the right man.
Sticking with Megson is too costly to Nottingham Forest because they need our support and under Megson they're not going to get it.
If Megson is still here we'll do well to sell 5,000 season tickets next season !

If we do stay in this division which i think we will i still think we will have big attendances next season because we have such a fantastic fan base which this club takes for granted.

I don't trust this letter, as has been said would he use GM? In previous statements from him he has said "the manager". Also would he use the term "gutted"?

It's more formal than "I feel like shoving wads of cash so far up his arse he'll be coughing notes into his retirement" so yeah, Doughty using the term "gutted" is a great possibility :nods.

* disclaimer - this post did not mean I want Megson out.
(to prevent some chav calling me fickle)

Ive now heard this letter was sent as a personal response to a moderator from Talk Forest who sent a Megson out letter to him. Doughty apparently uses this forum, as he says in the message.

Look m8 if you had or currently have a pet and it got wounded in such away that the only decent thing to do is to put out of it,s misery would you let it suffer in pain and hope its gets better knowing it never will or would you do the honourable thing and have it put down because Megson is doing that to forest (a wounded animal)and we are suffering in pain.

I think this is genuine. Doughty replys to quite a few emails and has in fact replyed to one I sent him regarding the sacking of Paul Hart some time ago.
He says he will be talking to the press when he is back form his buisness trip so we will see what happens. The mans got guts if he's gonna come out and say that he is sticking my GM. to the press - this is not going to be a popular decision to the majority of fans.
But it's his Money, he owns the club so its his right to do as he pleases.

What is a comfort zone culture?

Is this from a reliable source?

i totally agree with you ,and i stand corrected it is in fact what mr doughty has said as its in the evening post.
mr doughty has got guts imo as you say if he comes out in the press and tells it like it is .the fact is ,forest is his club he owns it he puts his own money into it so he makes decisions....we have to just stick with it and get behind the team .
i just hope they sort out the player power problems what they seem to be having...

good to see that doughty wants to get the club stable before making any decisions, as for him using formal language he used to go down the lady ba pub before matches and i have heard stories about him getting everyone drinks and talking to the fans normally, as this is a fans site maybe he would be talking normally

Doughty isnt as stuck up as some people think! Ive met him once and thought he was a nice down to earth bloke. If he wants Megson to stay then i respect his opinion, because trust me he loves this club. But now its up to the fans to change his mind if they so desperately want him out.

I f*****g well hope some morons dont start chanting "sack the board" or some s**t like that, that really WOULD wind me up!

I think its a bit more than a vote of confidence. Doughty has backed him to stay for the next few years!:(
