Considering that Bayern are running away with the league, Schalke, Werder and HSV battle it out for the two extra CL-places and Hertha is trying to defend their Uefa-cup spot from a bunch of contenders it´s fairly obvious that the real action is in the relegation battle..innit?

Let´s have a look at the main candidates!

12. A Biefeld 20 points
13. Mainz 19 points
14. Golfsburg 18 points
15. Nurnberg 17 points
....................................
16. Duisburg 15 points
17. Köln 12 points
18. K'lautern 12 points

As you can see the biggest club are near the bottom of the table (Köln) and they are also more likely to suffer from an eventual relegation in financial ways while their big fanbase will make sure they survive.
Duisburg, Nurnberg and Biefeld are veteran promotion/relegation clubs and will know how to handle the situation.

But what about Wolfsburg and kaiserslautern?

Will a disappointed VW cut the 15m Euros they spend every year on the club? And if they do..Will the club be able to get promoted soon?
As for Kaiserslautern there is a question if they will survive! Their finances are based on bundesliga games and they have a really really tight budget since they are still paying for the glory years..Will relegation be the final straw?

Of the three who are down there at the moment I am sure one of them will scrape out of it at the last minute. I'd put my money on Kaiserslautern to be honest.

Of the other teams I am sure one of them will get sucked in. I'd go with Wolfsburg, defensively they looked awful against us at the weekend and I don't think they'd be a big loss to the Bundesliga as a whole in comparison to say, Mainz who bring something different to the league.

I hope Köln stay up too. Mainz bring an attitude to the league. They are a smallish club with fanatical fans. There aren't too many of them around these days since the likes of Cottbus or St.Pauli got relegated. I also like Klopp - he's totally off his head.

Wolfsburg aren't a real football club, they are sponsored by VW, wnd wouldn't get anywhere near the Bundesliga without that money. They only brought a handful of fans to the Westfalenstadion on Saturday and I don't think there is a big spirit about the club. I hope they go down.

Hmm...Bayer Leverkusen is also a small club with fanatical fans, Bayer sponsor them with around 25m Euros every year..apart from giving them a new stadium that is.

The odd thing is that Bayer Leverkusen feels more genuine because they got history...They started out as a company club.

Agree, but take away the Bayer millions and they'd be 2. Liga at best. The success and the players that have played there make Leverkusen what they are.
